Using the abstraction of the landscape and self I am creating a sense of memory and state of mind. Interested in how the more you remember a moment in time the more distorted it becomes. How memory can be ever present, but never really there. Creating a feeling of memory as a whole that consists of fragments and small intimate moments. The body, the self, is the grounding reality and the abstract environment is where my mind resides. This project started out as a self reflection of emotions and a sense of change. Recalling memories that begin to fade and distort into an abstraction.
Choosing to print on watercolor paper to show the texture that affects each picture and gives it its own character. The texture of the paper illustrates the imprint left behind from a once crisp moment. The photographs turn into objects that can take on many different layers. By manipulating the image to a greater extent by printing cyanotypes over the existing print, showing a layer that signifies one's sense of distortion and impression on memory.
